Governors Club boasts one of the highest quality tennis clubs and programs in the Chapel Hill, NC, area. Six lighted hydro tennis courts as well as two hard courts anchor a full service pro shop. Our Tennis Program is comprehensive to be sure to welcome beginners to the sport while introducing children through clinics and camps. Competitive players are serviced through robust conditioning and opportunity. A full calendar of tennis events include Men’s Night, an exhilarating Annual Pro-Am Tournament, the USTA Governors Club Junior Futures Tournament, the Adult and Junior Club Championships and a Demo Day. Governors Club boasts six USTA adult teams and three Interclub adult teams that participate outside of the Club along with a Junior Program consisting of four groups ranging from age 4 to 16.
- Junior Tennis Program is designed to develop each student’s skills and to help them better understand the game of tennis. Students will be grouped by age and ability; this will be determined by the Director of Tennis. To progress into the next group, each student will be required to meet certain criteria.
Munchkins (Ages 4-6)
This clinic will introduce children to tennis for the first time, learning motor skills, eye-hand coordination, basic racket skills, social interaction, and most of all having fun with tennis!
Future Stars (Ages 7-10)
This clinic will begin to incorporate all aspects of the game. Proper mechanics and stroke production will be emphasized, and the student’s progress will be determined by the execution of each skill.
Superstars (Ages 11& up)
This clinic will build upon and further enhance the basic skills that the students have already acquired. Match play, proper tennis etiquette, fitness, and conditioning will be emphasized.
